Critically, we use Merbau for the sill—the horizontal base of the window. Merbau is renowned for its exceptional water and rot resistance, ensuring maximum durability where the window is most exposed to moisture.
Are they easy to operate and maintain?
Yes, they are designed for effortless use. A smooth chain-winder mechanism opens and closes the window with ease. In terms of maintenance, like all high-quality timber products, our timber awning windows will require periodic painting or sealing to protect the wood and keep them looking their best for decades to come.
Can they be locked in an open position?
While the standard keyed lock secures the window when fully closed, the chain winder itself holds the window securely in any open position. This prevents the window from slamming shut in gusty winds and provides a degree of security while ventilating.
